In practice since 2009, Kathryn holds a master’s degree in Oriental medicine, which encompasses both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. With training in both Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and five element theory, Kathryn uses a full range of modalities, and endeavors to treat her patients on the deepest possible level. Always seeking to enhance her skills, Kathryn completed 6 years of intense, post-graduate studies with Lonny S. Jarrett, esteemed practitioner and author of Nourishing Destiny: The Inner Tradition of Chinese Medicine, whose teachings combine the richness and complexity of the ancient traditions with a truly progressive perspective to create the highest context for healing. Her training includes Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis, a highly-sophisticated diagnostic tool used by dedicated practitioners.
Kathryn has served on the board of the Maryland Acupuncture Society, is board certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and is licensed in the state of Maryland.
In addition to formal schooling, Kathryn has traveled to China in order to enhance her knowledge and understanding of the medicine, and has volunteered her time for Humanitarian Acupuncture Project, a non-profit organization in Mumbai, India that provides quality, affordable health care for those in need.
Before returning to school to study Chinese medicine, Kathryn earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sculpture. Drawing on her fine-arts background and her love of acupuncture, she has created ‘Spirit of the Points’ cards; a visual learning tool for students and lovers of Chinese medicine.
